Paintings

My name is Sieuwerd and I live in Norway, but was born in The Netherlands. From a young age I was drawn to the world of creativity. Whether it was drawing, painting or building, I always found joy in making art. I still remember very well the moment when I made my very first oil painting at the young age of 10. Inspired by the well-known Bob Ross I followed his television instructions meticulously. To keep up with his brushstrokes I regularly paused the video recorder.

After my education I started a short but interesting journey within the field of science. I worked at two different laboratories, first at NRG, the nuclear power plant in Petten and later at Leegwater Houtbereiding in Heerhugowaard. At the latter I was responsible for developing new colours that were applied to wooden cladding with different types of paint. In close collaboration with architects I presented a range of colour options that matched their specific wishes.

Over the course of two years, I developed and implemented over 2,000 unique shades, mastering the art of color mixing.

Although my experience in the lab was intellectually stimulating, my passion for art never wavered. Fate smiled upon me when I was reunited with an old school friend, who invited me to his studio. Little did I know that this meeting would mark the beginning of my journey as a professional artist. I stayed in his studio day and night for six months, honing my skills and completing my first portrait and commission work in oil.

Today, I work primarily with acrylic paint, creating large-scale paintings that serve as a medium for my perspective on the ever-changing world of nature and industry. My artwork often revolves around human emotion or anatomy. I have a naturally curious and creative soul, which is why I am constantly exploring new styles and techniques, and searching for the best style to convey my message.
